Perhimpunan Majlis Belia Selangor 2006
Recently on the 4th of November 2006, the Youth Day or Hari Belia of Selangor was held in Shah Alam. All the youth organizations, from uniform bodies to religious youth groups were there. Without a doubt, the Boys' Brigade and Girls' Brigade were also there. The First Klang Company was chosen to represent the Boys' Brigade movement in Selangor.
Approximately 800 people attended the function. There were representatives from various uniform bodies like the Boy Scouts, the Girl Guides, Kadet Remaja Sekolah, Kadet Polis, Puteri Islam, Kadet Bomba, the Girls' Brigade and the Boys' Brigade. 40 boys and 3 officers from First Klang attended the function.
Out of the 40 boys that were there, 11 of them were chosen to be in the Guard of Honour, 3 were chosen to be the trumpeters, 5 were chosen to be the drummers and 1 was chosen to be the flag bearer. Staff Sergeant Alex Lim was chosen to be the Assistant Parade Commander in the Guard of Honour. The Guard of Honour was inspected by the Menteri Besar of Selangor, Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd. Khir Toyo.
Besides being a day of celebrating the youth in Selangor, Hari Belia is also a day to reward the youths that have excelled or shown great achievements and also to reward the people who have contributed to the growth of the youth movement in our country. We were proud to have witnessed the Pingat Bakti Belia presented to Honourary Captain Mr.Thomas of 3 rd Kajang Company. Hon. Captain Thomas is also the representative of Boys' Brigade in Majlis Belia Selangor (MBS).
When the function was officially over, all the boys from 1 st Klang were asked to fall in. Just as they were put into ‘jaga sedia' position, Datuk Seri Dr. Khir Toyo walked out and shook every boy's hand. That was definitely the highlight of the entire day. We were very proud to have represented the Boys' Brigade movement in Selangor.
