3rd KL greets 2007 in style

Today is the last day of the year 2006 and tonight, as usual on New Year's eve, all around the Klang Valley there will be countdown events like in KLCC, Sunway Pyramid and etc. I was invited with a few of my friends to join in the countdown at YMCA, home to the 3rd Kuala Lumpur BB coy. It was not easy deciding between something which is expected to be spectacular with fireworks and etc compared to a typical BB kind of event.

Finally, we decided that we shall go and support our brothers from the 3rd KL coy.

We were not expecting too much, you know the usual stuff that we would probably do for a BB kind of party. And truly, we played games, sing and had lots of fun. But that was just the first part of the programme, actually we were invited for the ‘countdown' not their Year-end party, but somehow our miscommunication got us a free dinner, thanks to Mr Joe Wong!

Parents started to arrive at 11pm (after the other party was over, the 3rd KL Boys quickly transformed the hall into a more grand event within minutes). There were also guest from BB Singapore and the YMCA. Also present was Mr Eric Tan, BBM's Brigade Secretary, with his family.

The event started with messages from 3rd KL's captain, Mr Tan Chee Keong, then followed by the Golden Jubilee Organising Vice Chairman, Mr Raymond Chiew and finally the President of YMCA, Mr Liew Mun Khai.

When the clock striked midnight, the lights when off and the countdown was in a form of a powerpoint presentation with ‘fireworks'. Balloons were released to mark the starting of the new year 2007, also the year that 3rd KL celebrates it's 50th Birthday! After everyone has said their wishes and as usual the juniors and the seniors took the opportunity to pop all the balloons on the floor, it was time to launch their 50th Anniversary Year Celebration. A video was played showing activities and faces of 3rd KL, a very captivating video. The video ended with the revealing of the anniversary logo.

The band and the Pesta 2006 singing team performed that night.

It was interesting to note that at the end of the 50th Anniversary Launch, there was a short video clip of 1st JB wishing 3rd KL “Happy Birthday” and also a live phone call from Mr Michael Moorthy, president of BBM sending his greetings. This reminds me of the big family that I've joined in the BB and with technology, no matter where you may be, we can always send our wishes to one another, cool!

Though it was not the kind of countdown that most youths would love to go to with loud music and mega fireworks, but I'm glad to have been part of this auspicious event of 3rd KL.

Talking about fireworks, actually there was a fireworks display at KL Sentral, in fact we had a good view of it from where we were!

To all my friends in 3rd KL, HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY!!!
