Jason Ng is new KL state chief
Terence Tay of BBM HQ writes
January 27, 2007 - The Kuala Lumpur State Council recently held their Annual General Meeting at the homeground of 4th KL coy. The event started of with a buffet dinner and fellowship amongst the attendees. More than 40 officers and senior members were present.
It was election year and the atmosphere was similar ever since I first witnessed a BB AGM in the early 1990s, nobody wanted to hold office. I remember when I was in the then KL Battalion EXCO, we practical had to begged someone to take office. This is the year 2007 and sadly, the situation never changed. Outgoing state commissioner, Mah Chan Keat, shared about his life and how God provided him when he persevered on to hold office. It is a testimony that when God calls you to do something, you just got to trust and follow Him. From my many years of observation, I noticed that BB officers are basically very passionate for the BB ministry but not many are willing to take up the challenge to lead or get involved in higher levels like state and national. I just hope and pray that the next generation will not be like that. I still believe that if everyone does their little part, it will not be difficult.
After much sharing and rejections from various captains, Mr Jason Ng, captain of 2nd Kuala Lumpur, a retiree, decided to volunteer himself to be State Commissioner. As expected, there were no other contenders. Thanks to Mr Jason Ng for his willingness to take up the challenge.

However, it is good to see that Jason has a team of young officers in his committee. In light of recent development, the Kementerian Belia dan Sukan is tabling the Youth Act at the coming parliamentary seating. When this Youth Act is enforce, Boys' Brigade will need to groom up a younger generation of leaders as the Youth Act states that persons of the age of 40 and below are considered youth and hence our office bearers will need to be under that age group. Though this act may not take into effect immediately when passed, it is good that the Boys' Brigade prepares for such a transition.
Mr Eric Tan, BBM's Brigade Secretary was present to brief the floor regarding the proposed Youth Act.
The AGM ended at 2300hrs.
