First Klang Moving Forward

12th January 2007, Friday

On 12th January 2007, The First Klang Boys Brigade had a recruitment drive campaign at SMK Methodist ACS Klang, which was led by our recruitment coordinator, Cpl Michael. We started at 4.30 p.m. where everyone gathered for final briefing and preparation, such as getting our band instruments, photos boards, presentation equipments up to the hall where we suppose to hold our recruitment drive. At 5 p.m. all the boys came up to the hall and we're getting really excited! Well, of course things getting out of control but we manage to handle them well! First up, we kick off with a band performance! It was totally awesome and we manage to capture many of the boys' attention. After that, Cpl Michael took over and gave them a briefing of what is BB actually really is! We put up some pictures of our activities that we run through the year 2006! Yeah! Apart from that, we also reveal the upcoming activities throughout the recruitment period, such as the BB race, Fear Factor, Splash Bash and more!! At 6.30 p.m., we wrap up our recruitment drive for the day with a smile! Lastly, we clean up the hall and packed our stuff. Hopefully, a number of them will turn up for the next day!

13 th January 2007, Saturday

On this day, we were busy getting ready for the BB race. There was a lot preparation to be done. L/Cpl Shamraaj was the NCO in-charged for the game. At 9.00 a.m., the BB race team came to set up the final touch up for the BB race. Well, it wasn't easy. We try making things more attracting, exciting and tougher or else it wouldn't be fun! At 2.00 p.m., we set up some banners around our parade ground, which is the Methodist High School (MHS). Some of us are told to standby at a few places to lead the new recruits the way to MHS School. At 2.30 p.m., we started our worshiping session together the new recruits! There were a large number of people turned up! We gave them a warmed welcome! After the devotion, we head into the roll call. Here, we split the new recruits into their respective platoons. Then, we are told to get ready for the BB race battle where everyone was eagerly looking forward. Before that, L/Cpl Shamraaj briefed all the participants about the rules of the race. At 4 p.m., we started the race! Everyone was very competitive to win the game! There were roadblocks and detours that need to be overcome by all of the eight teams! At 6.00 p.m., the BB race was ended and the first team which arrived was the pink squad that was lead by Pte Jacky then, followed by the green squad which was led by me and then the blue squad which was lead by Pte Ravin. Somehow, everyone has a good time together through out the whole day! Well, of course everyone is looking ahead into the next activity that is the Fear Factor!

20 th January 2007, Saturday

As usual, we had our parade meeting at 2.30p.m. After devotion and roll call we head for the Fear Factor! Everyone was so anxious what's up for them! Firstly we explain to the boys, how the game goes and what they have comply. We have physical training for first task; it was not easy, as they have to jump above the bench and crawled under it. After that they need to take coins out from a bowl with full of flour only by using their mouth! Then, spinning around a hockey stick as much as 20 times. Next, the interesting part was when they have to drink up a cupful of mixtures, such as vinegar, milo, salt, sugar, soya sauce, ice cream and a lot more from the dart board station and then they have to carry up frogs with their hand in a bucket and transfer them over the other bucket. Some of them really freak out and did not even dare to try. Then it came to the last task, which the boys have to take out five marbles in a pail, which was filled with maggots and bread. That was the last task. Even tough there were many scary moments for the boys, but we have so much fun and joy! Moreover everyone is expecting more fun for the upcoming events, the Splash Bash and ‘Barty In Da Bouse'!

27 th January 2007, Saturday

Today's upcoming activities were the Splash Bash and the ‘Barty In Da Bouse'! We had 1000 balloons to be played! All the boys headed to the field when everything was set up. Firstly, L/Cpl Jonathan explained to the boys, how the games are suppose to be played. Everyone was really excited to get wet and dirty up! There was a game they had to crawl sideways with blindfolded! Meanwhile they would be splash water by the seniors! Then walking back ways with blindfolded. It needs a lot of teamwork. After that, they have to pass the balloons by throwing up from a distance! Everyone was having a lot fun getting wet! Lastly, we have balloon fight against each other! Subsequently, we are free and easy to wash up and get ready for the party! As we were informed that we are staying until 10.00 p.m. at night!

We have games, fashion show and also a mini concert for the night! We celebrated our recruitment finale with a foam party and give away prizes for all the winners! Everyone was having a laugh out throughout the whole night! At 10.00 p.m., all members headed back home! It was so much fun throughout the day! Although, it was a very tiring day but it would be one of the sweet memories for First Klang.

All that wraps up the entire recruitment drive of The First Klang Boys' Brigade Company.

All the best for all the BB companies out there, during this recruitment season.

The Boys' Brigade rocks!
