Founder' Day and Thanksgiving Service
Sarawak Central Regional Council

Date : 20 Oct. 2007

Time : 2-4 p.m.

Venue : Hwai Ang Methodist Church , Sibu

Around 800 Members and Officers from Sibu and Sarikei participated in the yearly programme. The first item on the program was the Guard-of-Honour. The Guest of Honour, Rev. Dr. Ling Tung Kiing inspected the Guard-of-Honour from the 4 th Sibu Company.

The Service began with Singspiration as The Colours was marched into the sanctuary. The Deputy State Commissioner, Captain Andrew Chew then gave his Welcome Speech.

Three special items were presented by our Boys consisting of Band Performance and Group Singing by 4 th Sibu Company and Story Recital with actions by 1 st Sibu Company.

Rev. Dr. Ling spoke on the theme, “Transforming Leader.” He emphasizes that the leaders of Boys' Brigade should be aware of the surrounding, just like our founder, Sir William Alexander Smith. They should seize every opportunity that comes along for the benefit of the Boys and Girls. Instead of dwelling on interpersonal issues and be offended with one another, the energy should instead be used for the extension of the kingdom of God through the Boys' Brigade.

The VIP gave away the prizes for the Basketball Competition. The Colour was marched out as we sang “Underneath The Banner.”

It was a good occasion for everyone to reflect on how much God has blessed us. In return, we should love and give our best to Him. We were all challenged to carry on the vision of our founder, Sir William Alexander Smith to the next generation.

May the name of God be glorified through the ministry of the Boys' Brigade. Amen!
